Alright, I just saw this board open up and I think it's a wonderful idea for those of us just getting here. Feel free to ask anything here - let's make this a knowledge dump for everyone.

-Where is the best place to get caught up on what's been going on in factions? Some of the links on the main site seem to either be broken -
http://leaguefactions.net/nyroth-update-1-time-to-troll/
http://leaguefactions.net/nyroth-update-2-not-your-hero/
or missing (anything past update 10 on the main site - we can access the raw data through the forums I see, thankfully)

tl;dr - there's a lot of lore to catch up on - What's the best place to look? Is there a tl;dr?

-What kind of coordination is there within each faction? Freljord seems to be pretty light on teamwork - is that me missing something, or are we just as disorganized irl as we are in-game?
(Thematically. Also, not that there's anything wrong with that.)
Answer will obviously be different for other factions.

-Last one's not a question, just a huge thank you to CupcakeTrap and all the other site Admins and Mods for creating this awesome fun world for us to join you in. Need any help?
Whoops, snuck a question in there. oh well.

Hmm, this is worth a discussion on the lore forum.

Irelia came up a bit during Shon-Xan. She was initially presented as kind of a psycho anti-Noxian, but her attitudes mellowed as things went on. In Scarlet Shon-Xan, Agrofox had her talking with Xin Zhao as the fighting intensified, and she started to realize that it wasn't so simple as the Noxians being the bad guys.

I was exaggerating in that bit above for comic effect, but my pitch for Irelia's character is basically a tough, serious-minded military type. Not an Axe Maniac, but a hard-nosed soldier who's a bit of a contrast to Karma's more nuanced ways. Kind of an Ionian Commander Shepard. (Inasmuch as one can speak of the characterization of a POV character in an RPG.)
Irelia: "I'm Irelia Zelos and these are my favorite Noodles in Ionia." If you mention Commander Shepard and some other video game character, the Meme "I'm (X) and this is my favorite (Y) in/on (Z)" will be made.

I just went through almost the entire Shon-Xan storyline and saw no such interactions, but none the less if Irelia's view of Noxus has softened, far be it from me to object. Now if only my fellow Zaunites could learn to be more peaceful with the Ionians when we aren't at each other's throats...

From what I remember from filling for Ionia a while back it wasn't like you guy's didn't communicate, you just only said what had to be said pretty much. Like there was no needless chatter it was very calm for the most part. I haven't played on a Ionia team for a while though so maybe you guys have changed?

Bilge on the other hand can get very loud when it comes to communicating during match's.

It's kinda funny how we represent our factions like that. With Bilgewater being a rowdy bunch of crew mates, and Ionia being like a silent group of Ninjas on a mission only saying things of vital importance.
Kinda funny how you point this out. Typically, when we're on RC for pickup or Featured Matches, there's not a lot of talking going on, other than the casual "MIA" and stuff. There's probably two reasons for this

1. People don't have a mic, which is fine. They can still listen in, and act accordingly.
2. People aren't on RC, due to people not having RC/owning a Mac (I'm talking about you, Nakai!)

As for who talks a lot, I'd probably have to say it's me and LightPhyxer. Light does a lot of talking about what he's gonna do, where he's going, items to get, etc. Me on the other hand, I usually talk just so it's not quiet.

Can only core champions of a faction be played? What about secondary and Tertiary champions?

'Core' champions are usually there because it would be annoying to others to start a faction with a fuller roster in comparison (ie; Demacia has way more champions than Bilgewater). So, core are really easy ones to pick up, like if Demacia already had like ~8, and have Fiora and Shyvana sitting to the side.
Secondary are kinda tenuous ties, but still easy to make (ie; Morgana has a bakery in Noxus, easy pickup even if not born there). Tertiary are almost arc-only reasons (ie; Maokai joining Bilge in Nyroth, or Xer'ath joining Zaun in Hextech), and significantly more difficult to obtain. They can still be played, but it shows difficulty of obtaining TO play.

Question about intermission sign-ups: Are there intermission sign ups? If so, where?

No sign-ups: Intermission is just a free-for-all, you can play for or against any faction. This one in particular is going to be fun since its scored. :)

EDIT: Also thought I'd mention that Intermission rosters do not have to be earned at all and will generally be more inclusive. Be sure to read "Secondary Champions" that will play for a faction only if they aren't against their Primary faction (for example: Cass will play for Shurima, UNLESS she is against Noxus) I know that wasn't your question, but I thought it was useful info.

Not quite what i meant - I know any factioner can play for any faction, but is there a signup to become a factioner? Or am i completely misremembering and confusing myself here and any league player can play for any faction in any game without any kind of signup whatsoever?

Yes I don't think they are as particular about signing up for Factions during intermission. As far as I know, the only way they track sign-ups is after you declare for a faction, which you obviously can't do for intermission. The problems associated with playing despite not having signed up I don't think are a problem here, since its just a free-for-all.

So, in short, no, there's no way to sign up for "League Factions" right now. You can just get people together and play.
