So like, Anime Expo is being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center this coming July. Anyone interested in going? :P

One Day ticket badges go on sale May 1st, so there's that, or you can get the 4 day pass.

I live about 17 miles away from the convention center, so I might go if the one day pass is cheap enough.

I'm too poor and too scared to go to an anime convention. I've heard of weird things that happen there. I've seen otherwise normal individuals dress up in what look like KKK outfits because anime characters did so.

I live like 3 miles away, but I'm worried the one day pass might be too expensive.

Sorry, I'm holding out for SummCon again this year. Hopefully my schedule allows it.

So, I'm pretty anti-anime (antanime? antime?) and I don't watch any of it, but I have a friend who goes to a lot of these. She says a lot of the bad rep they get is mostly overblown hype, and she can only remember two really awkward instances.

1. She saw a group of people cosplaying as Nazis, I guess that might be from some WW2 anime but still, third reich uniforms seem like an obvious no-no.

2. She got pulled on stage once (semi-voluntarily, I don't think she knew what it was about) and guys in the crowd bid to "own her" for an hour. From what I understand it was mostly just a joke, and for charity, but it's still a little offputting to be in that situation.

Otherwise though, she says she's never run into anything awkward, and they're mostly fun and chill places where you can just buy stuff or talk to people.

A delicious porkchop.
I went to the Anime Expo back in 2012 mainly to see some of favorite english voice actors. It was awesome, I got to meet them and get their autographs. It sucks that Anime Expo is always held during the hottest month here in California. I was nearly dead by the end of the day, as I can't handle heat very well.

I'm very frugal with my money, if I had the money to spare I'd probably do some cosplaying, but the AX ticket, bus ticket to and from, and hotel set me back around 150$

I might go this year, depends on who the guests are gonna be. Of course I wanna save for SummonersCon and/or PAX Prime.
Q_Q

On a side note, I wish E3 was open to the public like it used to be ages ago, I'd probably go one year.
