I've noticed a few people have have managed to create alter-egos in the Factions lore. I was wondering how it happened.

While technically it's still just an element, Benel isn't one for the scientific nature of things. He doesn't want to change properties, he wants to create things from simple materials. Wood, sand, rocks, clay, magma, even processed materials like steel or glass. If something needs to be tougher, simple enchantments can be woven in. It might take a lot of energy but it is less dangerous and more, to Benel's mind, wholesome. Also it has the bonus of being nearly impossible to blow up in your face or open a rift to the void.

iirc I thought creating golems was banned by the League

actually maybe it was extra planar summonings instead perhaps

or maybe it's not even in league

From Galio's lore

Long before the League's regulation of such magic, mages experimented with the creation of artificial life. Now forbidden, instilling golems with reason was once not so uncommon a practice amongst the more expert of craftsmen.

Hrm, that is a problem. I'll wait for official word on it. I thought minions and Baron and such were magical creations that were like golems. Plus, Blitzcrank and Zac proved that (at least in Zaun) creating artificial life with sentience isn't a really big deal. If it is, I'll say Benel provides them with awareness but not necessarily sentience. Then my pet golem would be a soulless automaton but that's whats got to happen.

And quartz might be interesting. Why?

I reserve the right to be loudly opinionated on subjects I am completely ignorant of

Baron, and I believe the rest of the jungle monsters, are not actually sentient, just mindless drones, like the minions are supposed to be.

League Wiki

When Summoner’s Rift was constructed, the Baron vanished, leaving no conclusive evidence as to where he went or why he left in the first place. Obviously the rumor-mill has churned out many explanations, but all we know for sure is that the Senior Arcane Architect for the Summoner’s Rift arena was said to have crafted the version you see today from no more than a molted scale and interviews with those who had seen the beast and lived.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that description was for old Baron, from before the SR update. They said that new Baron is the real one, if memory serves.

The "new" baron on the updated SR is on the post-Retcon lore, so they aren't going to mention the League or the Fields. They are going to mention the original monster, but in a universe with the League it makes sense for it to just be a copy, a mindless drone, so people can kill it over and over again.

And quartz might be interesting. Why?

Quartz is Piezoelectric meaning it can produce electricity when the right conditions are met. This isnt a magical quality, its what quartz dose. Peaple use them in crystal oscillators because of there piezoelectric charge and use them watches and clocks. Crystals are cool.

Ah yes, retcons. Always the producer of headaches. The original Baron was supposed to be powerful enough that entire armies stayed away from them and the replica was just a shadow of the original. Which made a lot of sense, given that one properly built Warwick could take him down alone at a surprisingly low level.

Anyway, for now I guess Benel's golems will be kind of like machines: he gives orders and they do his bidding. He'll have certain standing orders to make sure they don't do anything wrong when he isn't directly supervising them.

I am extremely disappointed to find only one Summoner from Bilgewater.

Souldollar, I hope you enjoy being a double agent and MF loyalist. ^_^
