Was wondering if there was a timeline for how all the story arcs mesh together? Was drawing up an RP character (because I'm seriously starved for RP, and wanna get in on some of that action), and was trying to find a tipping point as to when my summoner would try this mysterious woojiness known as magic. |

I'm not one-hundred percent on the lore, but I think it goes like this: In Mirrorwater, Freljord wins the Mirrorwater, 1/3rd goes to Lissandra, who performs shenanigans with it, leading to Ceruleana being pulled into the realm. Ceruleana and her cosmic shenanigans lead to Discord, which leads to Noxus getting royally screwed. This leads to Shon Xan, which is basically Noxus vs Ionia 2.0. The Events of Discord lead to the creation of Pyhkiros, sparking the Hextech Revolution, which leads to the Yordles getting onto the moon and discovering Nyroth. After Nyroth, Azir comes by and decides he wants to reclaim Shurima, leading to Lines in the Sand. |

Thanks for the heads up, and where does the "official" lore events weave into these, and do we have a more hard line timeline? I'm starting to shake up a decent backstory and wrapping my head around the character, but am hitting a roadblock as to when/where some of these events might intrude into his life. |

The Official Timeline goes hand-in-hand with it for the most part, the biggest divergence comes from things like Fiora's Reworked Lore (when we finish messing around with it) will have happened before she joined the League, or Azir's Ascension will have happened during or very shortly after Nyroth, probably a week to a month before the Lines in the Sand Dispute but most definitely months after Hextech Revolution (when ironically enough, Azir's Shurima Terraforming act happened during the Battle For Shurima event, just before Update 12.)

An official timeline is something we've talked about with Lore Staff stuff, but are sorta putting off until we get Nyroth/LitS all squared away. As for official events, I believe Burning Tides will have had to happen after Nyroth, because GP is still a super relevant figure and has not been Fortune-bombed, and like Kuronan said, Azir's ascension has to be after Hextech Revolution, because a lot of that arc revolves around Shurima and there's certainly no immortal bird man running around at the time. |

I'm sure I have a LitS Lore bible link somewhere around here, but also don't have the time to find it right now...lore staff will have it, I'm sure, though. |

I've been around since Shon-Xan. At the time I remember Cupcake saying how Factions had been running for about a year. That was about...a year ago? So its a good estimate to say the Factions timeline is about 2 years long. The arcs are set as standard to not overlap, backed up by the fact that they are generally set up by events from the previous arc's conclusion. Raptor already explained the basics of how they line up and the previous arc causing the next one. Hextech Revolution doesn't follow this pattern perfectly, being caused by the arc that game 2 before it, but there were events in it that couldn't have taken place until after the end of Shon-Xan. I can give you the dates for the later arcs, as they have start and end dates posted on their main pages, but the earlier arcs don't.

Shon-Xan was about 1 1/2 years ago, during the winter of 2013 and spring of 2014 iirc. |

Do they occur in real time though? Wars like Shurima could drag on for years IRL... Also. I'm making bacon IRL. Edited by JondorHoruku, Nov 9 2015, 06:12 PM.

I imagine magic/technology speeds things up a bit. Plus wars in Runeterra, at least as I have seen it, are really 'all-or nothing' kind of deals. You want to get in, get your shit and then get out if you need to. Coupled with the IoW 'condensing' conflicts in order to keep the clockwork running smooth, it is VERY reasonable to assume wars in Runeterra at this point would have to be fairly severe to last 6-months to a year even. |
