Advocate of Zaunite sewer rats!
|
“I want to join Demacia,” a boy declared to the Institute Official before him. “You are much too young for this,” the Official responded as she flipped through the various papers on her desk. Go play with Ionia and make friends with the ghouls. Real men are working here.” With a polite bow, the child responded. “I apologize, but I must disagree with you. My age does not limit me from performing the best I can. And besides…” Suddenly, he set his hands on the table, sternly glaring at the official. “It is my right as a Summoner to choose my faction, and it is your duty as the Official to perform the proper rites to accept me!” The official stated in surprise, and without a word brought up the Demacian book of pledging, its covers emblazoned with a golden sword. "Do you swear upon the Summoner's Code to uphold respect and honor for those around you, and to follow the Summoner's Code in any given moment where you represent your faction?" “I do.” “And you swear to uphold the righteous and just morals of Demacia and her people, and promise to put your absolute best effort into our cause until the end of this dispute, despite the obstacles you may face due to your background?” the official asked once more, raising a stern eyebrow at the Zaunite boy. “I absolutely do.” “Then by hereforth, you are now a Summoner for Demacia… ...you best not disappoint.” “I won’t,” the boy smiled as he left the registration building and went back to his Institute apartment. “Why are there so many people like that?” Cyrus sighed as he jumped on his bed, getting the attention of his two mechanical friends. "What happened, buddy?" Russell inquired, leaping on to the bed, while Skye fluttered over to the two of them as well. “People think I can’t do good ‘cause I’m a kid, and I’m sick of it,” the boy complained. “I’ve done things! But you can’t even walk up and sign up for a faction without anyone giving you looks. I swear, it’s like I’m the only minor around here.” “Well, to be fair, you only made a name for yourself two months ago, and that was only once. You’re also only Gold. What I’m saying is, kid, there’s not many people who know you. You still have a long way to go.” “I know, but..how am I going to get there?” He summoned his crossbows and looked at them. “I mean, look at me. We’ve only barely made it through the fights we’ve been into, and...I just don’t like this,” he finished. “Don’t like what? Hurting things?” “No, not that. I’m fine with having to fight. It happens eventually, and I need to be there to protect you guys and anyone else when the time comes. But..I’ve just always been more of a mage. I use the crossbows more as an outlet of my magic rather than a strength themselves. It’s just complicated weight carrying these around. It’s so much easier not having to hold them. But, if I throw them away...what if we do need it? Like if my magic isn’t enough?” “Excuse me for stepping in, mister Cyrus, but I have an idea. If you don’t want to fire a weapon, why not have someone else do it for you?” “What do you mean?” “Well, fire mages and lightning mages, such as yourself, have the ability to summon creatures to fight for them. You’ve already powered us to work as our own machines. Why don’t you make some yourself?” Cyrus thought about it. “I never thought about that, but can it work?” “You won’t know until you try, right?” Right, he thought to himself. Cyrus closed his eyes and imagined a creature in his mind...he poured everything he knew about his crossbow training into that thought, and attempted to summon it to reality.. He heard a small crackle of electricity before opening his eyes, and looking at what he had made. It was some sort of...lizard? It looked as if it were made of lightning, like some kind of elemental. It was colored blue, as well as having little lightning designs around its body. The lizard hopped onto Cyrus’ jacket and crawled around his shoulder, squeaking contently. “Aww,” Cyrus smiled. “You don’t really look like a marksman, but you look so cool! I think I’ll call you...hmm...how about, Hubert? Is Hubert okay?” The lizard looked at him with a smile and happily chirped again. “Alright, you like Hubert. We’ll stick with that then. What can you do? Hmm..” Deciding to test to see if his summon fully worked, Cyrus looked for something as a test target. “How about that chair right there?” The lizard hopped off Cyrus’ shoulder to the ground, and eyed the chair. Without warning, it suddenly grew to the size of a crocodile, and its yellow cheeks started crackling with electricity. It opened its gaping mouth and blasted the chair with a pure laser ray of electricity before shrinking back to its tiny form and chirping happily. “That's...AMAZING! You're awesome, Hubert!” He looked at the chair. “We’re going to have to fix that, though. I thought you'd have crossbow bolts, not a built in laser..” They were interrupted by a knock on the door. Cyrus got up to open the door, and was greeted with alarming news. “High Summoner Kolminye!” Cyrus saluted, unsure of why someone as important as her was visiting him. “We have urgent business, Summoner! The Piltovian Highlands require your aid! The Black Mists have invaded all of Runeterra! Come prepared to the teleportation room as soon as you can!” “Yes, ma’am!” he saluted once more, packing his things. “Guess you’re gonna get some action sooner than I thought, Hubert,” picking him up and allowing the lizard to lay on his shoulder. Grabbing his bag full of medical supplies, toolkits, food, water, and a flashlight just in case, the team set out for their adventure. |
